Given the triangle below, which of the following is a correct statement? (picture is coming!)
@kayders1997
Do you know what sec and cot and stuff means it terms of ratios?
I know cotangent is the inverse of tangent but not quite sure what secant is - I'm assuming the inverse of cosine?
sec is the inverse of cos, so cos is going to be opposite/hypotense so than you are just switching them so sec is going to be hypotense/opposite and same with cot and tan except your dealing with different sides
I'll remember that, thank you!
So when you are dealing with angle B what is going to be your sides for the sec?
sorry my bad cos is adjectant idk what I was thinking
is it 7/6?
yes
yay!
so you know it cant be those because thats not one of the answers, and good job :)
Now try that on the cot for angles B and C
6/3? (I'll simplify if it's right)
Yes thats for angle B so that would be what simplified?
2?
Yep so you know thats not right so we know that the last one is the answer which is the correct one because if your looking at angle C the adj side is 3 and the opposite side is 6 and 3/6 is 1/2 yay :)
thank you so much! you've been so much help <3
