The length of a rectangle is 3m more than twice the width, and the area of the rectangle is 54 m^2. Find the dimensions of the rectangle. L=?m W=?m

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

A rectangle has an area of length x width, let L be your length and W be your width so we have L = (2W+3) And width of course is just W So we have our area as \[A = L \times W \implies A = (2W+3)(W)\] solve for W then plug W back in L = (2W+3) to get the length.

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Note A is the area here which is simply 54 m^2
