Some recent studies have indicated that a high self opinion, one that is not contingent upon success, does not correlate with increased academic performance. These studies show that teenagers feel better about themselves than they did in the past, even though academic performance in middle schools and high schools has fallen. What do you think this says about the role of self-esteem?
Self-esteem varies upon the person. It seems as though according to the passage over the years, students seem to care less about grades and more about interacting with others and caring about themselves. Personally, I care much more than the average person about my grades, and interact with others and think about myself less. I disagree with the parragraph, but I guess that's what others think...
