OpenStudy Feedback 18 Online
jagr2713 (jagr2713):

What would you like to see more of, or less of, on OpenStudy and why? Your feedback will help improve the site.

OpenStudy (photon336):

Some more shapes on the drawing tool bar a few chemistry related things like an option that generates say a cyclo-hexane ring. it doesn't have to be fancy but it would make it a bit easier to draw compounds. Also, maybe having qualified helpers list what areas they are proficient in maybe to streamline the asking process. A sub-section in certain subjects dedicated to tutorials so it would make it easier for people to access them. Maybe list people in subjects based on the number of medals they have in that particular subject rather than by smart score, which may possibly make it easier for people when deciding who they should tag. Maybe a section dedicated to new users where they can ask questions about how to use the site.

OpenStudy (kash_thesmartguy):

I would love o see an android app and less lag!

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Great list @Photon336 :D All sounds pretty interesting

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

I don't think we have an android app out yet @Kash_TheSmartGuy

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

But, hope it comes out soon :D You can use the browser instead of the app for now

OpenStudy (photon336):

Or maybe as soon as a person say creates a new account, he or she is directed to a tutorial page about how to use the site, just throwing things out there.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Yes, i suggested that a while ago @Photon336 But, it is a great way to help new years and decrease the amount of questions asked on "How to use this site" etc

OpenStudy (photon336):

@jagr2713 yeah definitely. I notice a-lot of people post subject related questions here, the majority of whom are new users.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Yes you are certainly correct about that. This is definitely doing at the top of the tree :D

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Specify more on that @Nnesha

OpenStudy (aravindg):

More studying, less drama.

pooja195 (pooja195):

-spam filter for chats -no chats (might help reduce drama and make this site more for learning) -Chat mods (if chat remains, add chat mods to moderate the content that is presented in the chats. Sometimes it is not taken care of other mos because they are busy reg mods) -Actual bans, like not being able to access the site at all after being suspended or banned. -Get rid of the OS feedback section and make alternatives to collect user feedback such as adding a google doc form on to the site like this: http://prntscr.com/a5kdwz And for new users there would be a guide to the site attached to the email (how to use openstudy) This would benifit OS because (1) Less drama (90% of the drama takes place in the feedback section) (2) The site won't have such a bad rep due to the people who think its funny to make the site look bad. This is all for now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tbh all I want is less strict punishments for language. Very sensitive rules for a public website that anyone can access.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

I want tkhunny to be online more often.

pooja195 (pooja195):

@LegendarySadist Those won't be changing any time soon. @inkyvoyd yes, perhaps we need more mods like tk! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I know, it sucks

pooja195 (pooja195):

Yeah ya know what else sucks? People agree to the rules and don't follow them :-(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's never been a rule that hasn't been broken in any rule-book ever

pooja195 (pooja195):

Yeah kinda sad.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

I'm okay with posts like these to help improve the site. However, I have an objection. There have been dozens of helpful suggestions that should be implemented to improve OS as a whole. There have been complaints against glitches and lag. Most of them are unfortunately ignored or put/held off. When I look at Thomaster's Suggestion Box, there are \(many\) extremely good suggestions. However, they aren't implemented. There are suggestions that are \(years\) old. The developers are seemingly always busy, but it's pretty obvious that what users suggest are just sitting there without anyone really taking the time to actually add it on to the site itself. What my point is...if there aren't going to be any results and devs aren't going to actually take note of their users' suggestions, I don't think making a post is worth it at all. You might be better of personally contacting the devs yourself.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

*slight objection xD

pooja195 (pooja195):

That's what I said to jag in messages lol

OpenStudy (photon336):

any drama related post should just be deleted and the issues should be brought up with the mods themselves

Nnesha (nnesha):

so that means os feedback is for posts like hbd and congratulating on getting diff smarscores.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Honestly those could be done via messaging

pooja195 (pooja195):

To summarize all I see in OS feedback is : -bday posts -Medal spamming -Criticizing OS to make it look bad -Posts against mods and their actions -Advertising other sites etc honestly there should just be some kinda form for feedback

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey, not all criticism is bad :), lets also try to stay on topic! Thanks

Nnesha (nnesha):

Right. I don't think they should try to get rid of this section we should try to improve. os feedback for suggestions and for meetings.

Nnesha (nnesha):

ha ha ha i knew it. lol

pooja195 (pooja195):

There will always be people against that.

pooja195 (pooja195):

However improvement is a great thing :-) Perhaps having more moderation in this section wouldn't be so bad? :P

Nnesha (nnesha):

feedback is just feedback positive or negative positive one for appreciation negative one for improving

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"To summarize all I see in OS feedback is : -bday posts -Medal spamming -Criticizing OS to make it look bad -Posts against mods and their actions -Advertising other sites etc" What about ALL of those off topic posts? I see tons of those lol

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yeah those will be visible in other subjects. But this entire section is dedicated to all of the above that Pooja mentioned.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

I mean, os "feedback" includes a broad range.

pooja195 (pooja195):

:P i was referring to the "annoying" things ;p but ye those would fit there too @Nnesha I've asked for people to offer ways on how we can improve, however they most of them don't give improvement suggestions. See instead of destructive criticism if people gave more constructive criticism then this section wouldn't be filled with all of the drama.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant like all of the math, science, english, history questions that end up on OS feedback

Nnesha (nnesha):

http://prntscr.com/a5kno6

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

That's just because they're new users that don't know where to post their question :P

pooja195 (pooja195):

@Nnesha see what I mean? People don't understand the meaning of OS feedback. They think it's a free for all section...it's better to just get rid of it ;p

Nnesha (nnesha):

yes right. but that doesn't mean we should get rid of it.

pooja195 (pooja195):

I respect your opinion :-) . I am not saying completely get rid of it to the point that there is no feedback regarding the site I am saying get rid of it and add a feedback form onto the site like they have for "report a bug"

OpenStudy (photon336):

@Legendarysadist "To summarize all I see in OS feedback is : -bday posts -Medal spamming -Criticizing OS to make it look bad -Posts against mods and their actions -Advertising other sites" I agree with this.

Nnesha (nnesha):

ye but would we e able to see those suggestions and sharing opinions about os??

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

"More studying, less drama." ~AravindG

pooja195 (pooja195):

@Photon336 I wrote that :P @Nnesha I am just suggesting...thats what this post was for I doubt they will ever get rid of OS feedback ;p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Photon336 Pooja's words, but yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Though you may not agree with the Birthday posts and congratulations posts, Preetha however promotes them. I personally think it can get a bit excessive, and maybe it needs its own section, maybe a community section haha? In any case for the topic in hand, I would like to see more mod tools, been waiting for this for a very long time. Specifically an important tool I'd ask for is one that gives us the power to move posts to the right section. That way we don't have to close all the off topic posts which leads users to not return as they probably think they won't be getting help on here.

pooja195 (pooja195):

Barely gets looked at anymore >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\small _{RIP}\]

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Plus so many that @thomaster approved are not getting any attention whatsoever. :'(

OpenStudy (photon336):

Opinion: Maybe there should be another section, like a general discussion or something where people can post threads for topics that aren't academically related, where medals aren't awarded. if people want to make threads that don't have to deal with academic related questions or suggestions concerning improvements/criticisms of the site, they shouldn't be getting medals for them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually, there's one other thing I want. Can we make it so Masochist isn't "profanity"? I really want LegendaryMasochist to complete the cycle.

OpenStudy (soprano.h.d0816):

I don't know why this happens but on my computer, and my phone, I will go to see the people who are online, and it says that the person is online so I'll go to place my cursor over their username, and then it says they aren't actually online. I'm guessing it's a lag or something?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

about those wrong-sectioned questions in the feedback section - those questions end up there, not necessarily because the users are new (we don't see such a problem in any other section like english), but because the verification email tells users to ask their questions in the feedback section.

imqwerty (imqwerty):

I want to see more of implementation of the suggestions given above and less of making excuses(like lack of time..etc).

OpenStudy (soprano.h.d0816):

I agree ^^ @imqwerty

rvc (rvc):

well most of them are mentioned above last but not the least "Application of all the above FEEDBACK" we see those feedbacks which arent related to OS but are responded quite well Whereas suggestions are at the bottom of the list... Ppl must be rewarded for their activities on site with interesting stuff other than medals such as new title, ability to change the color code of their own username for a week and stuff like that! This will create a jolly environment and more of addiction ;) well... about chats..."chat moderators are recommended" as suggested by Pooja. So thats all from my side! thank you! Waiting to see some new features asap :)
