Directrix (directrix):

I thought you already did a problem like this.

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

does it say male for B ?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

yes I have been doing them for a while now but look at A and B especially B

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

no it stops there :/

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

A would be correct because 18% of males have a library card

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

do you understand?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

but it says of all responses so not only of all males if that makes sense...

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

im sorry i have a problem with misreading today good grief

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

lol is alright

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

lemme give it another look

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

ok

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

I FOUND IT

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

yay can you please explain

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

of course not .. just kidding yes

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

hint: 32 out of 40 is 80%

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

but that is for females

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

ohhh wait I got it is true because from the total 60 are male????

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

wait nvm i got lost again

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

no look at it "all female" so that doesnt include the males

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

but it doesnt say gender it just stops

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

they are talking about only females

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

so it would be c

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

umm these are not options they are problems

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

ok c would be true

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

i know C and D but not B and A

Directrix (directrix):

On first pass, here is what I think: A) True B) Male C) False D) True (had to round up)

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

but wouldnt C be 32/40=80%? which would equal to true

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

@Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

There are 800 female respondents. 640 have a card. 640/800 = 80%

Directrix (directrix):

C) True

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

the question says over 2000 so how do you know for sure that there are 800 females

Directrix (directrix):

I read that as exactly 2000. I don't think it makes any difference in computing answers as long as the relatives given percentages hold true.

Directrix (directrix):

What did you get for the answers?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

TFTF?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

A poll asked over 2000 U.S. adults

Directrix (directrix):

Question B drops off. Just says 60% of all respondents are .... and that is it. How can you answer that as false when the question appears to be fill in the blank?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

idk that was a guess but that is why I needed help with this

Directrix (directrix):

The questions appear faulty to me. Maybe there is more to question B than we are given. The only 60% I had was the males. If you look at your problem source, maybe you'll see the rest of the question.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

how can I look at the problem source?

Directrix (directrix):

A) 360/2000 for that I don't know how you can look at the problem source because I don't know from whence came the questions. You may have to ask the teacher.

Directrix (directrix):

How did you get false for D ?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

18/60

Directrix (directrix):

I did 360/1200 = .3 or 30% which is close to 29% in the question.

Directrix (directrix):

You got the same thing.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

yes but is not 30 so idk

Directrix (directrix):

I think that it is close enough for government work. But, go with your gut on this one. And, part B - there is no way to know what's up with that question unless it is fill-in-the-blank. It's time to enter the best answers you have and move on to the next question.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

therefore TFTF is correct?

Directrix (directrix):

On my paper, I put T Male True True I wouldn't place a bet on those because of the truncated question 2.

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):

wow i had to get it wrong for them to show me that they were looking for males
