OpenStudy (avountae2003):

How will solid state drives change how data is stored? What does this mean for the future or data storage

OpenStudy (rsmith6559):

The speed that data can be read/written will change what can be stored. Many of the algorithms like read ahead, write behind, buffering and asynchronous I/O could become obsolete. If SSDs are fast enough, RAM could be minimized, swap wouldn't be a four letter word in high performance computing.
