A school newspaper created an online news subscription service. The administrators of the service made predictions about the number of subscribers. Which prediction can be modeled using a linear equation? A. Each month, the number of subscribers will increase by 15%. B. The number of subscribers will double after each 12 month period. C. After reading a maximum, the number of subscribers will decrease by 1/2 each month. D. The number of new subscribers added each month will be 10% of the original student population.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

I think it's between a and d

hartnn (hartnn):

In D, its a constant increase, of 10% of total student population. which will not change , so yes, its D

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

why could it not be A?

hartnn (hartnn):

because the increase is not a constant 1st month say the number of subscribers = 100 next months its 15% 0f 100 = 115 next month, 15% of 115 , which depends on previous result and is not a constant.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

oh ok!

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

more?

hartnn (hartnn):

sure
