Point A is at (3, 2.5) and point B is at (3, 1.4) on a coordinate grid. The distance between the two points is ____. Input numbers and decimal point only, such as 5.8.

OpenStudy (petlovers123):

@hartnn

hartnn (hartnn):

Distance between points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is \(\huge d=\sqrt{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2}\) does this help ??

OpenStudy (petlovers123):

I dont get it still

hartnn (hartnn):

to simplify things here, because x co-ordinates are same, the distance between the points is just the difference between y co-ordinates!

hartnn (hartnn):

\( |2.5 - 1.4| = ..\)

OpenStudy (petlovers123):

1.1

hartnn (hartnn):

thats correct :)

OpenStudy (petlovers123):

thats the answer

OpenStudy (petlovers123):

@hartnn Thank you lots your such help

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, you're always welcome ^_^
