-24-8x=-12 1+5/9y=-7/18x I need help with system of elimination!!

OpenStudy (theprofessor35):

Elimination is the process when you eliminate numbers to solve for x and y....so, lets solve! :)

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so i think first you need rewrite these equations in standard form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.. so we would need to get both x and y on the same side of the equation, right? so after putting the equation in standard form it would read.. 7/18x+5/9y=1 and -8x=-36? sorry i type really slow when imthinking :p :)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I would first start by multiplying times some number that would get rid of fractions in the second equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so by 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm really lost.. I can do this really well with regular numbers.. but fractions are harder
