OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

I need to write a 3-4 page paper on motivation. Any ideas for how to get past the writers block?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

It's technically a personal philosophy, but I just don't know where to begin.

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

@SolomonZelman or @zepdrix any thoughts?

OpenStudy (anaise):

Well do you want to brainstorm? Or give me an example of a real world problem?

OpenStudy (anaise):

Personally, I'd take a look at the things around me. Note most of the things that happened to me that are very sentimental memories. Or just let the pencil do the talking, by writing random words down.

OpenStudy (anaise):

Or is that not enough?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

Uhm brainstorm maybe? Writing is not my specialty. I find it very difficult to come up with stuff

OpenStudy (anaise):

Same, so what do you have......?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

So the sub headings I have to use are: Extrinsic Motivation Intrinsic Motivation Motivation to Learn Learning Theories Learning Communities Classroom Management The Struggling Student

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

I decided to add an introduction and conclusion to make it neater. But I can't even think of an interesting way to start the paper.

OpenStudy (anaise):

So you're not using essay format?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

no, we have to use subtitles/section headings (which I have never used before)

OpenStudy (anaise):

Ew, so it's like starting a new section for a mini paragraph.

OpenStudy (anaise):

IT'S A GUIDE '-'

OpenStudy (anaise):

which I think you knew

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

Yea, So I'm guessing it's one paragraph for each since it's only 4 pages

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

double spaced to boot

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

So I'm trying to come up with a good introduction, but I don't want to break the 4th wall ya know?

OpenStudy (anaise):

Yes I understand, and when you say double spaced boot That was like a book report I had to do a couple of years ago

OpenStudy (anaise):

How will you start this?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

So as of now, I can't think of how to start it. I was thinking something like. Motivation. A seemingly simple concept, yet is the cause of an abundance of prevalent issues in education today. Whether it be in a classroom or on a field, educators are struggling to engage a new generation of seemingly 'lazy' students, but is this the case? Are students really just lazy, or does a lack of support for intrinsic motivation create this appearance? I believe that if intrinsic motivation is nurtured and supported by the environment a student finds themselves in, that student will be able to develop a healthy internal motivation, which will help them achieve their goals and dreams.

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

but.. I just don't know if i like it . It's too, question-y

OpenStudy (anaise):

What grade are you in, I want to see what is acceptable.

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

Graduate school, lol. It's pretty bad that I struggle with writing still

OpenStudy (anaise):

God, a higher education than me

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

(My BS is in math.) I got out of every single paper I could

OpenStudy (anaise):

Well, when I read your introduction...I wanted to say You should take out " I believe "

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

haha, that part is allowed. It's a personal philosophy, so this teacher wants that type of stuff

OpenStudy (anaise):

My teacher taught me not to give your opinion on an informative format...

OpenStudy (anaise):

Oh, duh.

OpenStudy (anaise):

._.

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

I was taught the same thing, so again this is out of my comfort zone

OpenStudy (anaise):

After reviewing, I think it's pretty good.

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

alright, thanks. I'm going to try and keep going, but man... writing really sucks. I think I'd rather do a 3 page proof haha

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

thank you for helping :) you managed to get me to write something and break the block

OpenStudy (anaise):

No problem!
