Yes its a position of an organism
within the food pyramid. I know the biomass decreases, and the numbers are how far in the food pyramid the organism is is the energy just converted? am I right?

It's like this. Imagine that plants produced 100kJ using sunlight , when it goes to the next trophic level that level is only gonna take up 10% of the produced energy the rest of the 90% is wasted
So the second trophic level is gonna have 10kJ

1) pyramid of numbers
2) pyramids of Bio mass
3) Pyramid of energy

Pyramid of bio mass - the dry weight of all organisms in each trophic level
Pyramid of energy - total amount of energy trapped by organisms in a unit area per unit time

In a usually food chain when u go from one trophic level to the next there is a gradual decrease in the numbers, biomass and energy that's why we get an upright pyramid most of the time :)
There're instances where we get inverted ones but mostly an upright one

Energy is produced by the primary producers and is sent to all the consumers in reduced amounts ( when a trophic level takes up energy from the below trophic level it takes up only 10% of energy present in that trophic leveL) Does this make sense ? So obviously energy taken up is reduced when trophic levels are increasing !
