Given the following sets, select the correct answer. Given A = {1, 3, 5, 7, 9}, B = {2, 4, 6, 8, 10}, C = {1, 5, 6, 7, 9} A ∩ B = 1. 1,2 2. Empty set

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure But i think its Empty set

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why do you think empty set?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i honestly dont know but i actually change my mind from empty set to 1,2 because the fact that i see if you put the numbers together they give you the numbers in order from 1 to 10...i dont know if that makes sense to you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what the \(\cap\) does?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It means "both". It takes everything that is in both sets. On the other hand \(\cup\) means "either".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what does that mean? so its actually 1,2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The \(\cap\) doesn't take \(1\) because it isn't in both sets.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If nothing is in both, then it is just an empty set.

Okay Thanks
