OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

can someone please help me :( and tell if i'm correct? Choose the correct Spanish translation for: “Vincent introduced himself to Rose.” A. Vicente me presentó con Rosa. B. Vicente presentó Rosa él. C. Vicente se presentó con Rosa. D. Vicente me presentó Rosa.

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

my answer is C but i'm not sure

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

@jonan7 can you help me please?

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

@kayders1997 am i correct?

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

@jakyfraze This looks correct to me

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

I know it's not A or D because you would have to use me with yo

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

But I don't know if the verb is reflexive I didn't think it was so maybe it's not C

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

The verb isn't reflexive so you wouldn't have the answer of a reflexive sentence it's B

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Sorry I was wrong the first time I couldn't remember if it was reflexive or not

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

@jakyfraze

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

yes sorry I'm here @kayders1997

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Sorry so you understand why it would be B?

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

are you sure @kayders1997?

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

I believe so, because when he introduces himself it doesn't reflect back at himself it reflects back to Rosa

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Rose

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

oh okay! how do you know all of this? @kayders1997

OpenStudy (jonan7):

I'm afraid all the answers are wrong... The most correct is C, but you should change the preposition "con" (that would mean "introduce himself with") to the preposition "a"

OpenStudy (jonan7):

And the verb is "presentarse (a)", which translated is " to introduce oneself (to)"

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

@jonan7 i don't think i can change the question answers

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

A reflexive verb reflects back on the person like yo me ducho I wash myself yes he introduces himself but its to Rose, so the action he is doing is going toward Rose, so idk how the reflexive part could be in there @jonan7

OpenStudy (jonan7):

http://www.studyspanish.com/lessons/reflexive1.htm A veb is reflexive when the subject and the object are the same. The subject here is Vicente, and the object is Vicente too (the person who is being introduced is Vincent), so it's reflexive. In this case, Rose would be the indirect object

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

But if it was like Mi madre cepilla mi pelo that isnt reflexive because its my hair

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

And yes these are missing the personal a in them

OpenStudy (jonan7):

Yeah, in that sentence we don't use a reflexive verb... But I don't get what you mean to say with that example

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

My mom brushes my hair

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Native Spanish speaker?

OpenStudy (jonan7):

Yes, I'm from Spain

OpenStudy (jonan7):

What I wanted to say is that I don't understand what are you trying to explain and I don't know how your phrase (with a different subject and object) is related to the original sentence (which uses a reflexive since the subject and the object are the same)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c is correct

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

@jonan7 thank you so much :)

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

@kayders1997 thank you :)

OpenStudy (jakyfraze):

@leilani143 thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem hahaha

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

:)
