if a cell has 12 chromosomes, how many chromosomes will each of its daughter cells have after mitosis and cytokinesis? and can u explain because i dont understand

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

Well for mitosis, each daughter cell will have 12 chromosomes. These chromosomes are replicated in a cell. So you would actually have 24 chromosomes in a cell, but when they divide into daughter cells they each get the same chromosomes, so at the end there will be 12 chromosomes in each daughter cell. So replicate all 12 chromosomes, then each daughter cell will get an identicle piece for each of the 12 chromosomes that has been replicated prior to mitosis.
