Write the percent as a fraction or a mixed number in simplest form. 6.8% can you explain how to get the answer because when I simplify it down it says it is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you need to find what your decimal is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you need to put that over 100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the decimal would turn into .068

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry not 100 it is 1000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you need to simplify by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you need to simplify by 2 until you can't do it and have to do a different # or you can't go lower

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so when ever you choose a different number when you simpify thats when you dont simplify no more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no when you can't go lower or simplify more with your numerator or denomirator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to do it when you multiply 6.8% times 1/100 because when i do it like that i get the top number right each time but the bottom number is always wrong for some reason

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you move the decimal 2 to the right when you wan't a percent so just move the decimal back over to the left 2 times and fill in the spaces with zeros and convert into a fraction using the place value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok i understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you very much

happy to help
