Question and answers in screenshot, please help!

OpenStudy (lilkg77):

OpenStudy (grocerybear1):

answer is B.

OpenStudy (lilkg77):

How do you know @grocerybear1 and its more than 1 answer

OpenStudy (grocerybear1):

thats what i thought, the answers are B and D, because hours of television watched and shoe size have absolutely no correlation, and neither do the score on a math test and japans performance in the stock market

Directrix (directrix):

High correlation between two variables has to do with an association between those two variables. High correlation does not mean a cause-effect relationship. There may be an underlying lurking variable that has not be accounted for. As an example, watching television hours and shoe size. There may be a high correlation but that does not mean that watching a lot of television makes your feet grow. Older people are likely watching more television in retirement and as adults, their shoe sizes will be larger because their feet are bigger. The lurking variable here is age.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

One, when you play a game, points are usually scored. They are related, not abnormal like B and D. (sorry meant A and C)

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

And when you eat food, you do tend to gain calories, they are related also.

Directrix (directrix):

A relationship and cause-effect are not the same concept.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

It is basically common knowledge really, when you watch tv, your feet doesn't grow.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Cause: Plays a game. Effect: Earns points.

Directrix (directrix):

@lilkg77 What do you think about the answers to the problem?

Directrix (directrix):

I am in agreement with @grocerybear1 on B and D.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

When I infered relations is that they are interconnected. Meaning they do have something to do with each other, actually, @Directrix .

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Annnd that is cause and effect, however, I left that out. I also thought You meant which is cause and effect.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

So cross A and C out.. The answer is B and D.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

I apologize because I didn't notice the 'not' I was looking at what is cause and effect, so I agree,

OpenStudy (lilkg77):

@MissSmartiez sorry i was afk

OpenStudy (lilkg77):

I understand the question now thanks guys

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Other words, yes, groceries is correct, it is B and D. Also, we are glad you understand now.

OpenStudy (lilkg77):

Yea, @MissSmartiez I was gonna give you the medal but grocery helped first sorry :(
