why can i not block moderators?

You can't block a mod because their basically the people over all of the users and that particular mod won't be able to see what you're doing to "moderate" you.

You can't block mods because what if they need to pm you about an issue? Or what about if they have something to say to you ? If you were able to block a mod they would have to send you pm's as warnings or even suspension notes ;) Besides what's the need to block mods? :P They are only here to make this site a more user-friendly place. They are more likely to pm you if you have done something wrong unless you are friends with a mod and they were just saying hi :P Mods are users of this site they maybe above you but guess what? We all share one thing in common and that's being together on this amazing site :3 
Anyways there should be no need to block a mod in the first place.  Unless they are breaking the rules themselves (meaning being rude in pm, harassing you through pm etc) then in that case you message another mod about the issue

Even if you can block them, it doesn't matter. They would have the power to message you even though you have them blocked.
