For the life of me I cant figure out what x is. Yes I know how to do these types of problems but this one is tricky to me: x/4 -5 = 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x/4 is suppose to be a fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so here it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we have to find the value of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What -5 =6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay your taking awhile lol so its 5+6=11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it has to be 11 4's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x11=44

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the value of x is 44

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 44 }{ 11 }-5=6\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The improper fraction simplifies to 11, therefore x=44

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow thank you because I started to plug in negative numbers and that didn't go well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol no problem
