It is very important for the scientists to practice peer review. A lot of times someone will come up with an idea that they can prove with experimental evidence. Other scientists read journals that have been published to review it and reproduce the experiment to see if the information holds true. Once there is enough people who can reproduce the experiment and results the idea can become a theory
