OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

Maureen spent $48 on books. That is 70% of her savings. Write and solve a proportion to find the total amount of Maureen's savings.

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Proportions are equal fractions. We have 48 over a number we don't know, "x," which is the variable we can find with this, representing her total savings. And 70 over 100 because it's a percent. :) In other words, 48 = 70 And x = 100, bc that's the total. Get it ? ^.^ \[\frac{ 48 }{ x } = \frac{ 70 }{ 100 }\]

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

Thank god you answered. I was like havin so annoyed that no one was answering my question.. But i still kinda dont get it a little bit

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

would it be 48% ? @KamiBug

OpenStudy (kamibug):

To solve the proportion, cross multiply. :)|dw:1456447050182:dw|
