Just a General Announcement to whom it may concern

OpenStudy (dani_rose):

If you see someone who is going against the code of conduct please message them and tell them what they did wrong so they have a chance to fix their mistake

OpenStudy (dani_rose):

DO NOT report someone without giving them 1. a reason and 2. a chance to fix their mistake

OpenStudy (dani_rose):

If you disagree let me know

pooja195 (pooja195):

I disagree. Some users simply don't want to get involved and so they will just report. And it is not a user's job to tell other users the rules I think that should be left to mainly the mods and a selected few ambi's but mainly mods. That's why they are here, to help this site be user friendly. It's not ok for a user to take a situation into their own hands without knowing how to deal with it. So in my opinion reporting would be the best unless it is a new user. In that case you would welcome them to the site and point out where they broke the rules and NICELY ask then to stop that's all.

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

Option #1 Troll: I.E. a person harassing you. You "please stop" you're disobeying COC Troll: continues to flame and harass you more. Option #2 troll: harasses you You: submits report Banned the end!

OpenStudy (dani_rose):

I agree i just think that they should give them a chance by telling them before reporting/banning them

OpenStudy (dani_rose):

It's not hard to tell them to read the COC

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

I respect your opinion and I see where you're coming from, but I disagree. I guess it depends on what the offense is.

OpenStudy (dani_rose):

Yeah if it's the first time that they do it then just give them a warning but i think reporting or banning should be a last resort

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

I have much less patience, but the report button should probably not be abused.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Sometimes, it is easy to tell whether or not someone's breaking the rules intentionally. If you don't think it's on purpose, then yes, you should tell them what they're doing wrong, and make sure they know how to avoid whatever mistake they made in the future. If they're obviously breaking rules on purpose, report them, because that's the only way those kinds of people can be properly dealt with. It takes a whole village to raise a child, but sometimes, it also helps to smack the crap out of the child when they act like a brat on purpose. I hope that helps give some insight on the situation.

Your message only applies to new users who do a minor mistake, such as giving answers. Other behavior, even from a new user, should be reported, such as foul language.

OpenStudy (dani_rose):

Idk that was just my opinion I know a lot of people who got banned or reported for the wrong reasons whether it was bad blood or just a misunderstanding
