On the completely other side of the spectrum, I believe that educating people about prohibition makes people understand that control isn't the best option. Alcohol can be detrimental to your health, but it is also plays a massive part in our society. Alcohol is a social thing, that most Americans take part in. Going to the bar to grab a beer has become a social norm after work. Prohibition is a prime example of why too much Government control is a bad thing. People died from trying to get around the law by trying to make their own alcohol. It became an underground thing, much like how Marijuana is today. People will do it no matter what you say, because they can. Control isn't always the best option, and I believe that's the take away message from it.
I like what @kat_s123 is saying. We learned from prohibition that we can't legislate everything. In fact we can end up doing more harm than good. Prohibition gave us Al Capone and other gangsters. When government outlaws a thing that the people want it makes for very desirable circumstances for criminals.
