What is the value of y in the equation 2(3y + 6 + 3) = 196 − 16? 27 29 30 33
Hey there, What do you think we do first?
Keep in mind PEMDAS
whats in the parentheis sorry for my spelling
Well we have to distribute correct? Do you know how to? Parenthesis Exponent Multiply Divide Addition Subtraction
no:(
Well distributing is when the number is outside the parenthesis like this 2(3y+6+3) It means we take that number OUTSIDE the parenteses and MULTIPLY it by all the numbers inside for example 2*3y = 6y 2*6 = 12 Etc etc
ok whats next
Take a look here for a better understanding http://www.coolmath.com/sites/cmat/files/images/05-properties-distributive-03.gif
