Help with algebra....

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

0=-146496(0.2098)+41351(0.1398)+27409-18573 0=-X(0.2952)+43805(0.2252)+41582-21570

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

set these equation equal and solve for x.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

@mathmale

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

@dan815

OpenStudy (agent47):

Did you miss an x in the first one?

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

I am getting a different number than my TA. She says my setup is right... I don't even know where the heck I am going wrong

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

no there is only one equation with x

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

I am getting like x = 254,839 and apparently it;s wrong

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

yes i think i got it...

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

hold on let me get it written and then i will show you my solution.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

@KamiBug did you see my PM?

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Yes, one sec (:

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Why did you add them? Like you added the first equation to the second one. @_@ My eyes hurt. xD

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

you have to change the signs when you bring one of the equations across the equls sign

OpenStudy (kamibug):

What I did was simplify each equation as much as possible first then set them equal to each other and went from there. Here's what I got ... Did you get the same? The first equation simplified to 16117.991 The second equation simplified to -x(.2952) + 29876.886 So 16117.991 = -x(.2952)+29876.886

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

omg i got it.

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Yay ! What did you get? :D

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

I know what I was doing wrong and I remember making this same mistake when I was taking another class where we had to input 6 equations with 6 unkowns.. ugh lol

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

I got x = +46608.7229

OpenStudy (kamibug):

YES THAT'S RIGHT ! XD

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Good job! :D Kudos for finding the mistake. ^.^

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

Thanks for your help.

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Sure (:
