OpenStudy Feedback 8 Online
Directrix (directrix):

When I log out of OpenStudy, why is it that my image stays behind?

Directrix (directrix):

I have wondered why so many OS members appear to be live on the site but are not. Their images are present. My question is this: when I log off, how can I take my image off so that it does not appear that I am present.

Directrix (directrix):

Without logging onto OS, I see that I am still in the Feedback Forum. Check attachment.

OpenStudy (samanthagreer):

are you actually logging out or just closing the tab

Directrix (directrix):

Without logging in, I clicked above my image in the Feedback Forum and the "just looking around" turned into "offline." My image remains.

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Yes, this is because OS has a delay in updating the online status, so if you click on your name after you log out it will then show you that you're offline and won't show you anymore, it's another glitch I guess.

Directrix (directrix):

In the math section, my image and status are absent as they should be when I am logged out.

alones (alones):

O.M.G I have the same thing.. ;3

Directrix (directrix):

Twenty-four hours after I log out and shut down the computer, my image remains in the Feedback Forum. I have not checked the others.

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Yup, it doesn't work with real time haha, I think @Zale101 is going to make a post on yammer for the glitches, so she can add this one as well.

Directrix (directrix):

As an online user, what is slightly irritating is trying to determine if a particular member (or mod) is actually "live" online at that moment. It is odd to log onto the site and see that 185 users are online although there appears to be no activity. The only time I saw a "few" helpers online in the math section was after the OS server was restarted.

Directrix (directrix):

>>>are you actually logging out or just closing the tab logging out

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Yes, it is unfortunate. For now though you can click on their name to know whether they're online or not, I agree with you though, it needs to be fixed.

alones (alones):

When you click on people and there offline actually why the number how many people online doesn't changes ;3

Directrix (directrix):

I have seen the online count go up when a member whose image was not already here came online.

candycove (candycove):

Oh, dang. That sucks. See, I've never had this problem but I hope it gets fixed soon for those who do.

Directrix (directrix):

You don't know that this is a problem until you log out and then look at the forum you left and see yourself. For months, I have wondered why or how some images remained on the math site yet appeared not to be accompanied by a live presence. I am aware that some members may run their computers all day everyday signed onto the OS site. Yet, if the OS site reports the member offline, then why does the image remain. This is not a gargantuan problem although those seeking help may tag someone whose image they see. If that is an "offline" image, then the tagger may wonder why no help comes. And, when we need a mod and several, at first glance, appear to be online but are not, that is a problem. Most days and nights of those days, there is a time when there is no live mod on the site. In the earlier days of OS, the "floating mod" function solved that issue.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

This is an old bug that has never been fixed. The only thing you can do if you don't want to be shown as online, when you're not, in a certain subject is to unstudy the subject. However, it will still look as if you're online in people's fan list.

Directrix (directrix):

>>The only thing you can do if you don't want to be shown as online, when you're not, in a certain subject is to unstudy the subject. I "unstudy" the subject and my image still remains in the forum after I log off the site. For me, it seems to be a problem isolated to the Feedback Forum.

Directrix (directrix):

@AloneS The last time several of us were in this forum (see attachment), our OpenStudy accounts were disabled. After six weeks, a repair was made. Good Luck!

alones (alones):

Oh so ir's fixed

alones (alones):

*it's

Directrix (directrix):

@AloneS The spelling of the name of that forum was changed. Its former name was changed to "Undefined."

alones (alones):

W O W I actually didn't have that problem ;3

rvc (rvc):

same here

rvc (rvc):

havent checked with my account but other users who are actually offline are shown as online untill we hover the mouse over their pfp

Awolflover1 (awolflover1):

Same. When I log off it will say I'm online and I get lots of tags and messages

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

I do as well wolf...

OpenStudy (samsungfanboy):

It's a bug ;-;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simple: They need to query the DB to check their status for offline, then sent the event to remove them, AND add it so it only selects users to append to the list that have the OFFLINE status. If that status is what works properly, then use the status to fix whats not working :P
