You sprain your ankle and your doctor prescribes 325 milligrams of an anti-infl ammatory drug every 8 hours for 10 days. Sixty percent of the drug is removed from the bloodstream every 8 hours. how to write a recursive rule?

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

1st step You will need some pen and paper

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Well you start off at 325 mg, which can be \(a_{1}=325 \) For the ten days, there will be 240 hours. The second equation can be \(a_{2}=a_{1} -0.6(a_{1}) \) The third might be something like \(a_{3} =a_{2}-0.6(a_{2}) \) and so on till you reach 240 hrs, where \(a_{1} \) is 8 hrs, \(a_{2} \) is 16 hrs, etc.. Just my thoughts (:

Oh ok, thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually, the recursive rule is for the amount of the drug in the bloodstream after n doses.

Sorry I didn't mention that earlier.
