I need help figuring out the area of this Polygon ABCDE. I tried doing so on other problems, but none of my answers added up. So I need a hand.
@LunarousDuster I would first find the area of the two defined shapes and add them together.
I know, but I am uncertain as how to find the areas. I thought I had to use the distance formula on them but that hasn't gotten me a correct answer on a previous question yet. I so I am not sure on how to find the area.
What I would do for the rectangle is use the grid. So point E to point D is 2 units. try doing that for all of the rectangle's sides and see if you get a reasonable answer.
I got 18 for that and that is one of my answers. Would you agree?
18 22 24 28 are my choices of answers.
I got 2 * 6 which is 12. but now you need to find the area of the triangle. Again, use the grid to find the height and you already found the base.
Ok.
After you find the two areas you need to add them together to find the area of the whole shape
Ok, I got the rectangle as 12. and the triangle as 14.
26, but that isn't an answer.
I think you did the area for the triangle wrong. The equation is 1/2 * base* height
Oh right... one second.
Ok, I did it and now it is 24, which is also an answer. This one fit better you think?
yep. that is what I got.
Alright, thanks you!
