Is there a formula for finding the area of irregular polygons?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

Not that I know of. I just break all the shapes into triangles or rectangles and add them together

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

Yes there is one. It doesn't work with self-intersecting polygons though. http://www.mathopenref.com/coordpolygonarea.html

nice @thomas5267

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my polygon is a self intersecting polygon 😒

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

just break it up into triangles then. It works every time
