Help please. Question below
Im not sure on this one . But im tryin to get em done asap
Here is what the question gives you for the first equation with the coordinates plugged in\[4=m(-2)-6\]
To solve this lets simplify the equation first to get\[4=-2m-6\] Now what we have to do is find the value for m(slope). To do that lets start by getting rid of the -6 by adding 6 to both sides to get\[10=-2m\] Now to find the slope we need to divide both sides by -2 to get\[-5=m\]
What is the opposite reciprocal of the slope of -5?
1/5
Good. Now lets plug in the coordinate the question said the perpendicular line should go through. The equation with the coordinates already plugged in should look like this:\[-4=\frac{ 1 }{ 5 }(5)+b\] Now lets simplify the multiplication to get \[-4=1+b\] To get the b value alone we need to get rid of 1 by subtracting 1 from both sides to get\[-5=b\]
Plug in the newly found slope and y intercept to get \[y=\frac{ 1 }{ 5 }x-5\]
thanks!!! youre alife saver
