Also if you are trying to find someone online go to the home page www.openstudy.com/study and hit ctrl+f and type in a username.

There's no way to look up a username for some reason :P I just type in the name into the web bar
For example: openstudy.com/users/bigpapa1

If you know the name of the user then there are two ways you can find them :)

1) http://prntscr.com/78k2k4
http://prntscr.com/78k27f
then just type in the username :) and dm them :3
2)You can press Ctrl+F on the subject page and type in their username in the part to see what is highlighted like this

This information is incorrect, you can do so with either
1. Jay's extension -- http://ultrilliam.com/google-store/
OR
2. Jay's search tool -- http://ultrilliam.com/openstudy-enhancment/osusersearch.php

However Jay's extension is recommended, as the User Search is a tad laggy.
