Which is the best estimate of the residual value when x = 1? Missing Metadata –1.5 –0.5 0.5 1.5
I know it has to be positive going from left to right
Residual (in linear regression) The difference between an observed value of the response variable and the value of the response variable predicted from the regression line
Residual Value Formula
The observed value is 5
Do I just pick a point off the graph to get the y
coordinates so I can solve it
No. Look at x = 1 Then, look on the line for the y value of x = 1. That is the predicted value. Then, look at the observed value in blue above x = 1.
Subtract the predicted value from the observed value.
I looks like i would be 0.5
Look at this.
The point on the line is (1, 3.5) approx The observed value is (1, 5) Look and see if you agree.
1,5-1,3.5
Subtract the y values Observed - Predicted = 5 - 3.5 = ?
1.5
D, Thanks
I'm still thinking about that explained variation problem.
I'll let you know once I get it, Thanks so much
Okay. I am going to work through what I think is the formula again - play with it a bit.
It was wrong, but I don't know what the answer was uhhhh I wish I knew
Do you get another shot at answering that question about explained variation? @freemap
@Directrix No I don't
I will make it a point to learn how to do that problem. I keep thinking that it is something fairly simple that I can't see.
I'm not sure of the problem either, I'll ask my teacher
Are you working more problems on OS tonight?
well I was going to but I don't won't to start something I don't have help to finish the problems
How long are you going to be on
