OpenStudy (juan1857):

can anyone pls help: Solve each equation for principal values of Express solutions in degrees; sin2x-1=0

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Hint: sin 90 degrees = 1

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

sin2x-1=0 Add 1 to both sides. What do you get?

OpenStudy (juan1857):

sin2x=1 right?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

correct and we know that sin 90 degrees = 1 so that means sin 2x = sin 90 and removing sin we get: 2x = 90 degrees what is x = ?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

missing steps: sin2x=1 sin 90 = 1 since they are both equal to 1, we can equate them to each other

OpenStudy (juan1857):

45

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

and 45 degrees is your answer :) Did you understand?

OpenStudy (juan1857):

I understand most of it, but don't understand how sin2x=sin90

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

well, we know that sin 2x = 1 and we know that sin 90 degrees = 1 sin 2x = 1 = sin 90 degrees = 1 sin 2x = sin 90 degrees = 1 sin 2x = sin 90°

OpenStudy (juan1857):

OHH, OK now i get it THANKS
