The area of a rectangular pool is given by the trinomial 4y2 + 3y – 10. What are the possible dimensions of the pool? Use factoring.
is this volume?
I don't think so?
Factoring is the name of the game here, as soon as that's done, the rest should be a breeze
4y - 5) • (y + 2)
Well then, you've done that faster than I'd hoped D:
Now, to dimensions, as in, the length and width of the pool Well, there are rules here, one of them being, dimensions must be positive
So, uhh, for what values of y is the first factor (4y -5) positive?
Where finding the area.
y +2 or y -1 ?
What? Where did you get those?
one second I keep getting some weird message
from who?
Something keeps trying to download
Don't just guess use calculations.
(4y -5) is the first dimension?
Yeah, let's call it that, since we can't really designate either as length or width XD
y + 2 and 4y – 5 y – 1 and 4y – 5 – y + 2 and –4y + 5 y – 2 and 4y + 5
Oh, are those the choices? Well, the answer is clear, then. You've already given it.
I keep getting a message saying F124125637565432165767o8654544 is unsafe
dude, stop getting messages with viruses.
it appears everytime I type something
do something.
then I must leave and come back in order to reset
So, I'm confused on what is the answer?
I think you had it already.
no I typed two different answers and asked witch one
17 KyleLee Medals 0 y +2 or y -1 ?
\(4y^2 +3y-10\) ------> denotes area of pool alright the area of rectangular pool is given like this-> \(area~of~rectangular~pool= length \times breadth \) so now lets factor \(4y^2+3y-10\) \(4y^2+3y-10\) \(4y^2+8y-5y-10\) \(4y(y+2)-5(y+2)\) \((4y-5)(y+2)\)--------> \(length \times breadth\)
so the possible dimensions are 4y-5 and y + 2
yeah :)
I keep getting the message everytime I type something
cool :)
not cool, what is it? and how do I remove it?
