I would pick the line that divides the triangle into two equal parts (which each side is the "mirror" of the other )

It looks like both b and d have symmetry but I can only pick one

why do you think "b" ?  the idea is if you fold along the line "b", the two sides that meet up are not necessarily equal (based on the hash marks being different)
