OpenStudy (infinexa):

One way in which playwrights develop characters is through dialogue. Define dialogue. Then choose Alice or Humpty Dumpty from Alice in Wonderland. Analyze how the character is developed through dialogue. Describe the character and explain at least two pieces of dialogue that support your description.

@MissSmartiez

OpenStudy (infinexa):

Hey, can you help me

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

You can learn a characters traits and appeals, and learn more about what is going around in your surroundings just by mere speech between two or more people. In other words, a dialogue. Now, you pull some proof out of Alice and humpty dumpty to support this claim.

OpenStudy (infinexa):

@MissSmartiez thanks, but can you help me a bit more. It is still a bit hard

OpenStudy (infinexa):

So i understand what dialogue is but i need some more help

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

I didn't read the story sweetheart. Provide me with it and maybe I can give you examples. Or just pick something randomly with dialogue. Speeches like: "Hey, Amelia, wait!" "I cannot, I must flee beyond the moor!" or something and I will help make something of it.

OpenStudy (infinexa):

ok

OpenStudy (infinexa):

Alice : [Amazed] It's a rabbit-hole--I'm small enough to fit it too! If i shrnk any more it might end in my going out altogether like a candle. I wonder what I would be like then! What does the flame of a candle look like after the candle is blown out? I've never seen such a thing! Humpty Dumpty: [Sits on the wall.] Don't stand chattering to yourself like that, but tell me your mane and your business. Alice: My name is Alice, but-- Humpty Dumpty: It's a stupid name enough, what does it mean?

OpenStudy (infinexa):

@MissSmartiez

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

We can tell that Alice has a, somewhat curious nature. Poking her nose into anything that interests her from the dialogue. Show me some evidence of this, @Infinexa

OpenStudy (infinexa):

Ok, i think it shows that when she says, I wonder what I would be like then! What does the flame of a candle look like after the candle is blown out? I've never seen such a thing!

OpenStudy (infinexa):

@MissSmartiez

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Correct. Now. What does humpty sound like to you? A bit curt? Maybe uncaring about other people's feelings rude? Answer this, then bring out the evidence.

OpenStudy (infinexa):

He is rude and uncaring about other people's feelings, when he says, It's a stupid name enough, what does it mean?

OpenStudy (infinexa):

@MissSmartiez

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

it means he disregards Alice's feelings and judges her in a somewhat crude way. Remaining hotty. So his character is what?

OpenStudy (infinexa):

@MissSmartiez umm not sure

OpenStudy (infinexa):

@MissSmartiez Thank you so much, i sent it to my teacher.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

OK!
