The Great depression hit the States hard. The way it is a turning point in history because it helps look back on how our economy was, and is now, basically how we changed our economy. World War 1 may have been when the income tax started to raise that led to the Great Depression. After the war, paying war debts proved crippling to many countries. These events came to a head in 1929, it created the Wall Street Crash, when fortunes were lost as reality brought the stock market to it’s knees. Whole businesses and industries were virtually wiped out in the course of a week. This was how the Great Depression started. The Great Depression was a turning point in history, because of many things. For one, it started the Progressive Age, in which many key historical turning points in history was completed. For example, The Great Depression changed the way we managed our economy with Franklin Roosevelt. He made many exceptions and bends in our government, which eventually leads us into a whole new economy
