What affect does decreasing the pitch of the sound have on a wavelength?
I think by decreasing the pitch of a sound it will decrease the frequency of a sound wave.
I just want someone to explain it to me
you are correct. If the wave frequency decreases the pitch of the sound also decreases
You can look at it this way- Pitch depends upon the frequency>you are correct there that decreasing the pitch would also decrease the frequency Now we know that - Wave speed=Frequency * Wavelength. You have a decreased frequency here, the same speed of the wave(sound) since the speed wouldn't change with a change in the frequency So,can you ,with the help of the above relation that is wave speed = wavelength*frequency, figure out how the wavelength would be affected? The wavelength would increase. I hope this is helpful:) If you have any doubts on this subject, feel free to ask me:)
