A force of 100.0 N acts in a direction at an angle of 45.0° with the x-axis. What is the magnitude of the x component of the force? 50.0 N 70.7 N 145 N 0.00 N
Actually you can resolve any vector (here Force ) like this: |dw:1457192401570:dw|
here they are asking for the x component of the force.. so u take the comp. along x axis which is FCos (theta).. Here theta = 45 degrees and F=100.. so x comp. = 100cos (45) =?
So which option is it ? @ayonnaleflore
here we have to do this computation: \[\huge {F_x} = F\cos 45 = \frac{{100}}{{\sqrt 2 }} = ...?\]
