About 3% of the water on Earth is freshwater. Only about 40% of that freshwater is available for human use. Why is so much freshwater unavailable for human use?

v The Earths surface is covered by 80% water. 97% is saltwater and 3% is fresh water. Of this 3%, 68.7% of the available drinkable water is locked up in ice frozen near the north and south poles making it inaccessible to most of the world.
