Which of the following is a false statement? More energy is produced as a product to be used by organisms in aerobic respiration than anaerobic. Carbon dioxide is always produced by aerobic respiration but only sometimes by anaerobic respiration. Aerobic respiration occurs with oxygen and anaerobic respiration occurs without oxygen. Aerobic respiration is only done by animal cells but anaerobic is done by plant and animal cells.

This is a science question! ^-^;

OpenStudy (richgall____):

ik that no one answered it on science

OpenStudy (victoriasushchik):

\[C\]

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Well, alright. @Kainui is a pretty good Science tutor, though

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

C is true, though... aerobic is "with air", anaerobic is "without air" ("aer", "anaer"). So it's not the answer

OpenStudy (richgall____):

Can you help me so i can understand it?

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

http://www.diffen.com/difference/Aerobic_Respiration_vs_Anaerobic_Respiration Okay, @richgall____ the answer according to this chart is D. "Aerobic respiration is only done by animal cells but anaerobic is done by plant and animal cells" because anaerobic respiration is PRIMARILY done by prokaryotes (single-celled organisms)... not just plants. Even so, the statement has it backwards - nearly all cells rely on aerobic respiration, anaerobic is usually the backup plan in case there isn't enough air for aerobic. Does this help? :-)

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Clarification: *even so (even if prokaryotes didn't do anaerobic respiration)

OpenStudy (richgall____):

Thankss

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

No problem :-)
