OpenStudy (trwatkins1):

Gaby deposited $200 in a savings account earning 4% simple interest over 7 years. What was the total interest Gaby earned? $32

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\qquad \textit{Simple Interest Earned}\\ I = Prt\qquad \begin{cases} I=\textit{interest earned}\\ P=\textit{original amount deposited}\to& \$200\\ r=rate\to 4\%\to \frac{4}{100}\to &0.04\\ t=years\to &7 \end{cases}\)

OpenStudy (trwatkins1):

@jdoe0001 Pretty much gave you the answer. Okay, so Gaby deposited $200. If 4% of 100 is 4, them 4% of 200 would be twice that, or 8. 8 x 7 = 56 Gaby would earn $56 in 7 years.
