How long does it take for a conical funnel with a 45 degree angle to drain?
@ganeshie8 Someone suggested to tag you in this, do you think you could help me out?
That was all that we got unfortunately to solve the problem.
Look at the funnel http://mathcentral.uregina.ca/QQ/database/QQ.09.08/h/rachael1.1.gif
since the slant angle is 45 degrees, we can say that radius is same as the height
There is no way to know the numerical value of \(r\). Do they want the answer expressed in terms of \(r\) ? What are you filling the funnel with, water / some other liquid ?
We need to know such details to proceed further with the solution...
Thanks fair enough. I was thinking that maybe the answer requires to be a mathematical expression rather than a solution.
I suggest you not guess. Just call your professor and tell him/her that the problem statement is not clear enough
I was going to bring it up in the tutorial tomorrow
Also, the time taken to drain the funnel depends on the output flow rate
That info is also missing
If the output flow rate is given by 1in/sec, what would be the answer expressed in terms of r?
in/sec is not a unit of flow rate
in/sec is unit for velocity
Fluid Mechanics... Great fun. A friend just recently sent me this link: http://diego.assencio.com/?index=62f54ab6114d473b6933ad5bf5a5fc88
If this is a calc1 problem, you don't have to get into fluid mechanics
That would be nice.
