AP Stats: All of the following would be evidence that you do NOT have a normal distribution, except: a) the presence of multiple modes b) a normal quantile plot suggests an obviously curved line c) the likelihood for all values of x is the same d) the fact that 75% of the observations have a value below the mean e) None of the above
I think the answer is e) None of the above. a) the presence of multiple modes. This can't be correct because a normal distribution should only have one mode right? So that mean it IS evidence that it's not a normal distribution b) a normal quantile plot suggests an obviously curved line. This can't be correct because I believe a normal distribution shows a straight line that goes upwards. So that mean it IS evidence that it's not a normal distribution c) the likelihood for all values of x is the same. This shouldn't be correct because if the likelihood of all values of x was the same, then that would be a uniform distribution, not a normal distribution. So that mean it IS evidence that it's not a normal distribution d) the fact that 75% of the observations have a value below the mean. This shouldn't be correct because values below the mean should make up 50% of the observations, not 75%. So that mean it IS evidence that it's not a normal distribution So that only leaves me with e) None of the above
