Can someone please show me the steps to this question? Please Solve -6 – x > 7

OpenStudy (tylerchifan316):

Add 6 to both sides and what do you get

OpenStudy (tylerchifan316):

After that, Multiply both sides by -1 and that is your answer

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

@tylerchifan316 I am so sorry! my WiFi messed up....

OpenStudy (tylerchifan316):

Thats ok haha

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

when I need to add 6 to both sides would it be... -6+6 – x > 7+6?

OpenStudy (tylerchifan316):

Nope after you add six to both sides it becomes - x > 15 After this you multiply both sides by negative 1

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

oh okay

OpenStudy (tylerchifan316):

So what do you get for your answer?

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

so then it'll be -x*-1>15*-1 and that equals x > -13 ?

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

@tylerchifan316

OpenStudy (tylerchifan316):

x > -15. Nothing changes except the negative sign

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

@tylerchifan316 what do you mean?

OpenStudy (tylerchifan316):

If you multiply - 1 to each side of - x > 15, nothing changes except the negative sign. It moves from behind the x, to in front of the 15. So now your answer is x > -15

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

oh than I think we did something wrong because these are my answers a. x > -13 b. x < 13 c. x < -13 d. x > 13

OpenStudy (tylerchifan316):

The answer is A. I was reading it wrong i put 8 in for 6 sorry about that

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

ok thank you!
