Two consecutive negative integers have a products of 20. What are the integers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have options

OpenStudy (taylor.joe):

No I don't.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK. Read this and tell me is it makes any sense. Consecutive integers are integers that follow each other in order. They have a difference of 1 between every two numbers. In a set of consecutive integers, the mean and the median are equal. If n is an integer, then n, n+1, and n+2 would be consecutive integers.

OpenStudy (taylor.joe):

OH! That makes sense. Would they be -21 and -22?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. It would be -4 and -5. Because you are multiplying the two consecutive negative numbers to get 20. -4x-5=20

OpenStudy (taylor.joe):

Ohhhh. Okay. Thanks so much.
