Germany's telegram with Mexico promising to help Mexico win back land in the South West part of the US. Also, Germany sunk the Lusitania, which had American citizens on it. Also, President Wilson, wanted in on the peace conference that would result from the War. It was there at Versailles that he gave his 14 Points speech. One of the points was the League of Nations, which was implemented in the Treaty of Versailles, but the US did not ratify the treaty and was not apart of the League of Nations. That made Wilson very upset because he wanted the US to be the light of the world and to lead the world.
