I think all you do is look at the exponents and put them in descending order... correct me if i am wrong @mathmale

For the first step I think I am supposed to put it in this order
\[11x ^{5}y ^{2}+7x ^{3}y ^{3}-3x ^{2}y+4\]

It's the second part I don't really understand. It says "then interpret the degree of the 2nd term."

I think what that means is you look at the order that you just put them in and your answer is whatever the second exponent is that you put in descending order. I wouldnt go off my word though... Have someone else double check because math is not my subject lol

Much depends upon what "degree of the poloynomial" means in this context. If you're curious enough, look that up. Otherwise, try adding together the two powers that appear in the 2nd term, that is, the power of x and the power of y.

Note that if we were to do the same with the first term, the result would be 7 (since 5 and 2 add up to 7).
