opposite sides in a parallelogram are always congruent. So... I just equaled both GH and JI and solved for y.

I was trying to post to ask a question on the second item but could not. On the second diagram, two angles were marked. I wanted to ask if those angles are congruent. If so, then the two marked sides are both parallel and congruent. If a quadrilateral has one pair of opposite side both parallel and congruent, then the quadrilateral is a parallelogram.
