OpenStudy (kyleighg):

3w^2-8w+4=0 SOS

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

So, I'm guessing you want to solve for w?

OpenStudy (kyleighg):

I have to find the solution

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, so, do you know either how to factor a quadratic or the quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (kyleighg):

I would like to do it with factoring

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, so that will be a bit more difficult here. So lets get started. So, we will be aiming to get something of the form

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

(3w+a)(w+b)

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

so, if we FOIL that out, what do we get?

OpenStudy (kyleighg):

im confused on how you got that form

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, so, what multiplies to 3?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

or, what are the factors of 3?

OpenStudy (kyleighg):

im not sure i understand what you're asking...do you mean the factors or multiples or something else

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@kyleighg: We used the quadratic formula here. Why not use the same Formula on the current problem? Try to use what you learned from previous work in new work. Also from last time: I suggested that you multiply the first and last coefficients (3 and 4) together and then identify all of the possible factors of 12. Have you tried that approach yet?

OpenStudy (kyleighg):

I GOT IT, thank yall so much

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Happy you "got it."
