What is the valence electron configuration for the Mo^+ ion? Is it [Kr]5s^2 4d^4 ?

well the electron configuration for Mo w/o the ion is \[[Kr] 4d^{5}5s^{1}\] you always take out electrons from the higher energy levels first.

you would remove one of the electrons from 5d orbital first
